HER EXCELLENCY CHIEF MRS. TITI AMINA ATIKU- ABUBAKAR AND 9 OTHER AMAZING WOMEN HONOURED FOR PROMOTION OF WOMEN & AFRICAN VALUES IN LAS VEGAS MACH 50 & 31 2018
The second day was the 2nd US – AFRICA INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE to 10 deserving women of substance and value.
Her Excellency Chief Mrs. Titi Amina Atiku Abubakar, Founder WOTCLEF, was honoured as AFRICA’S MOST OUTSTANDING WOMEN LEADER 2018, for her remarkable combat against women trafficking, child labour eradication and women empowerment for the past two decades, with her personal resources. She has rehabilitated more than 10,600 women, youth and children at her WOTCLEF Shelter in Abuja Nigeria, giving them counselling, education, vocational training, housing, feeding and more over these years even though her husband left office more than 11 years ago.
Other awardees who were presented with plaques of honor for promotion of African values, include Afrikan Tradition’s Shamika Webb, whose outfit is the main outlet for African artefacts, crafts and historical literature, a tourist attraction anyday; Toshia Shaw of Purple WINGS Organization USA/Sierra Leone, Rhea Watson, the Scholarship Doctor, who has raised $50 million worth of scholarships for College students and Elisabeth Beye, from Senegal, whose Sandaga African Caribbean Market continues to add value to Africans living in Las Vegas.
The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Las Vegas Chapter were recognized for promotion of African values for their amazing annual event, where all African Americans present were dressed to the tee in African attires. The chapter hosted the African fashion show by the queen of African fashion in Las Vegas, Adefunke Dairo of Fudamike International Fashions. The organization has been in the forefront of women empowerment across the United States since 1984 with its 53 chapters nationwide.
Also, honoured were Adia Lancaster, a US congressional Awards Member and the New Hope Foundation International, which she executive directs, for combating human trafficking in Nevada; Rose Igeleke, of Alpha O business Concepts, a Nigerian, she has contributed a lot to the positive branding of Nigeria and Africa in Nevada through her over 20 years of amazing work in the healthcare sector in the US; Favor Chikelu, a journalist, Director of Renewed Mind Behavioral Health Services and African Cultural Festival- Afrikfest Las Vegas, has made her mark in the US. She continues to be a great brand ambassador for Nigeria and Africa with her immense contributions to the propagation of African Values in the US.
The high point was the presentation of A special book in honour of the special guest, Her Excellency Chief Mrs. Titi Atiku Abubakar, titled WOTCLEF, 18 YEARS OF COMBATING THE HUMAN TRAFFICKING SCOURGE IN AFRICA.
The presentation was supported by Mr. Chris Usigbe, President of Dvast Entertainment and CEO African Lounge, who bought 5 copies for $1,000. Mr. Cheikh Beye, the Senegalese top Chef with the TAO group also supported with $100 for 2 copies and African American woman Kim, the General Manager of Renewed Mind Behavioral Health Services also supported with $200. Many other guests supported by buying a copy for $10 and $20 each and the whole copies brought for presentation were all bought up.
The awards night had the 60 exclusive guests treated to a 3-course dinner at the Gold Coast Las Vegas. The guests were also treated to a dose of African entertainment, with Gambian Afro rap artiste Miss Tesi, US based Afrobeat sensation Ayo Reign and DJ Kdee on the turntable.
University of Las Vegas African Dancers, 54 Shades of Melanin, had the guests including the special guest of honour, on their feet in excitement gyrating in sync with their gripping contemporary afrobeats dance.
Every guest present confessed to being overjoyed at being part of the two day awesome event.
